‘Safe rates’ moves a step closer to becoming law

In Federal Parliament last week, a House of Representatives committee met to examine the Government’s Road Safety Remuneration Bill 2011 – that’s the so-called ‘Safe Rates’ legislation.

The committee is expected to report quickly, most likely by the end of this month.

With the Bill now being openly debated in Parliament, now’s a good time to have a serious look at what’s actually in it – it contains a lot more, but also a lot less, than what a lot of people reckon. But first, a quick recap on our Association’s work on this issue.
